Description: From its beginnings in India to being known the world over, Buddhism has redefined religion and what it means to be "enlightened". Track the story of how Siddhartha Gautama's followers took his teachings and turned it into a complex, thorough understanding of humanity's relationship with the physical and spiritual worlds.

Objectives: Students should be able to identify figures of Buddha and different cultures' depictions of Buddha. Students should be able to understand how different Asian cultures varied in their perceptions of Buddha and how these perceptions were fundamentally similar.
